Frequently asked questions

  • What does “BYOD” mean?

BYOD stands for "bring your own device." It's a term used to describe bringing your own mobile phone, smartwatch, or tablet to a wireless carrier instead of buying a new device from the carrier. Similarly, “BYOP” stands for “bring your own phone”.

  • Can you bring your own phone to NEO?

If you like your current smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch, you can BYOD to NEO and quickly switch carriers. In most cases, your current GSM-compatible smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch will easily connect to NEO’s network, so you can keep the device you love.

There are several key benefits to bringing your own phone or even a smart device like a tablet or smartwatch.

    1. You may have just finished paying off your device with your current cellular provider. Even if you didn't buy your device from NEO, you can keep your device and simply add an NEO Business wireless plan to get new service connected on that device.
    2. When you bring your own device, you won’t need an NEO Installment PlanSM since you already own your device.
    3. You’ll even be able to keep your current number if it’s eligible for transfer.
    4. Enjoy exclusive offers when you bring your own device to NEO.

  • How can I tell if my phone is compatible with NEO?

You can check if your device is compatible on the NEO network. Keep in mind, your phone must be GSM-compatible. CDMA phones will not work.

  • What is eSIM?

SIM cards are tiny removable chips you can swap in and out of smartphones to get service. A SIM stores the information your phone needs to connect to your carrier network so you can send texts, make calls, and more. While many of today’s phones and devices still rely on physical SIM cards for network connectivity, newer devices are increasingly turning to a newer technology called eSIM.

eSIM is short for Embedded SIM and is a digital version of a SIM card. eSIM allows you to connect to your network without having to deal with a physical chip. Instead of storing all information on a SIM card, you can download data to your device via the internet, activate your eSIM, and connect to your network in a completely virtual way.
